    WIM Annual Awards Conference
    “Celebrating Women of Achievement”
    Friday, May 13, 2005

    Stonegate Banquet & Conference Centre
    Hoffman Estates, Illinois

At 9:00 am SHARP the Welcoming Committee and the Business Expo were all set and ready to receive Guests for the 2005 Annual Awards & Conference.

Women from the five WIM Chapters and Special Guests mingled throughout the EXPO area before the Brunch making new acquaintances and reuniting with business colleagues and friends. Attendees explored the 15 vendors offering goods and services ranging from boutique clothing, jewelry and accessories to insurance and business support services.

Chimes announced the Awards Champagne Brunch was about to start. There was excitement and anticipation in the air as over 100 attendees took their seats.

The first part of the program was dedicated to welcoming those present, thanking the Conference Committee, and highlighting the past year’s goals and accomplishments of the WIM 2004-05 National Board. National President, Trish Peters shared the Board’s mission and the vision for the upcoming year. She commenced with an inspiring Champagne toast that was shared by all.

The National and Chapter Boards each recognized their outgoing Boards and inducted their 2005-06 Board of Directors. A new tradition of sharing in the official process that occurs at each Chapter was witnessed and celebrated by all chapter members and guests during the Brunch.

As the incoming boards had their group photos taken, attendees enjoyed the delicious Brunch fare. Sandy Griffin, Motivational Speaker, shared on the value of recognizing the humor of the things that happen in our lives, and more importantly, participating in it.

The Champagne flowed as each Chapter recognized and awarded their Outstanding Members, Scholarship and Women of Achievement recipients.

There was an exciting energy in the air as the Conference attendees moved on to the Wine Reception sponsored by Down Under Imports. Guests indulged in a selection of Estate wines from the Australian vineyard, Ballandean.

Marilyn Miglin gracefully moved among the attendees, greeting each person while engaging them in conversation about their personal and professional endeavors. Even before Marilyn began to speak, we knew we were in for a very special presentation.

She exemplified the entrepreneurial spirit as she shared with us her personal insights and storybook rise to success as one of the nation’s top-500 businesswomen. She spoke directly to our hearts as she told us about the angels, as she called them, the people who were there when she needed encouragement, advice on a critical decision, and the push to continue to reach for her dream.

She left us with the thought that living life was an adventure – to embrace each new day, never looking back and always striving to put one’s best face forward.

KL Robertson Daly, Conference Chair and Sharon Nelson, National VP Events presented Marilyn with a designer numbered perfume bottle from At The Gallery, Oak Park.

In her closing statement, Sharon likened Marilyn’s presentation and presence as being an angel, so powerful and fitting was her message to the attendees.

The remainder of the Conference was a blur of photographs and autographs. Marilyn signed copies of her book and when those ran out, copies of the Conference Program. She stood for dozens of personal photographs and was the last person to leave. Truly she is a very classy lady.

The 2005 Conference was coming to a close, but there was one last gathering to attend. Forty conference attendees met at the Millrose Restaurant for a President’s Dinner to share their experiences of the day and each other’s company one last time. Until… it’s time to meet again at the 2006 Annual Awards & Conference. See you there !
