Membership Categories

WIM offers membership in seven career categories. This creates an organization that spans a wide range of women managers to provide a broad spectrum of information, expertise and mentorship opportunities.

Academia: Management work within a formal academic environment such as primary, secondary or higher education. Recognizing there is a difference between owning a private school and working and teaching within private/public education systems, those involved in the former should consider applying under another category.

Corporate: Management work within a for-profit company of any size.

Entrepreneur: Product Owners/managers of businesses whose primary function is to market a tangible product to the public.

Entrepreneur Service: Owner/managers of businesses whose primary function is to provide service or non-tangibles to the public.

Government: Management work within government at the local, county, state or federal level.

Licensed Professional: The chosen career requires licensing and/or certification in order to serve in the profession. Generally a continued course of testing and certification will show increased expertise, specialization and ability in one's profession. Examples include certified public accountant (CPA), insurance or investments, real estate, physician, attorney, etc.

Not-for-Profit: Management work within a not-for-profit company (as designated by the Internal Revenue Code) of any size.
